Change....

The Greek philosopher Heraclitus- loosely translated- gave us the idea that the only constant in life is change. Whether we like it or not, it is true. Sometimes we crave the excitement of change, and other times we dread or lament that we cannot stop it.

As a collective, we here in Minnesota are shifting (rather dramatically) away from the hot, active summer months to the slower, cooler months. Nature dictates our changing rhythms (like it or not), and we settle into both new and familiar routines: physically, mentally, and spiritually. It is an opportune time to reflect on how you feel about each of these areas. Are you feeling balanced and peaceful during these changes, or does something feel off or imbalanced?  What can you change to feel more centered? Is it something you can control, or do you need to release it? Take time for a quiet pause, or maybe a long walk, and see what comes up…

I myself have been reflecting over the past few months and have learned that change is often bittersweet. It highlights the fact that two things can be true at the same time. As in: I am comfortable and familiar with where I am, and that I also want to grow and experience new things. Honestly, I wrestle with the tension between the safety of the familiar and the discomfort of the unknown on the regular. And, If I stay in that space for too long, I get good and stuck. It reminds me of when I was a kid with my toes hanging over the edge of the diving board, wanting so badly to jump, and yet, being so hesitant to step off. It took awhile, and I am so glad I stepped off-what a rush! I was recently in this familiar place again, and I knew it was time to step off...

In July, I moved office spaces. It is wonderful, and after three months, I am finally settling in! Everything about my environment, daily patterns, and habits changed, and to be honest, it was a little (or a lot) unsettling. I had some serious doubt. AND! it has been exciting to create a new space for my clients and friends to visit. Two things really can be true at the same time. Despite all the changes, I am reminded that the work itself is unchanging, and that has been both my teacher and anchor through the process.

The biggest goal for this move was to have more contact hours available for sessions. I can do that now, and I would love to see you and share this new space with you. My address has changed (1614 Mahtomedi Avenue, Mahtomedi, MN 55115), but my contact information, fees, and desire to help, have not.

Many Blessings!

I look forward to seeing you soon!

Anne
